Quick Summary:

SeatGeek is the clear winner for best prices and selection versus StubHub, TicketLiquidator, Ticketmaster, and the other options listed below. None of the sites listed below are “risky,” unlike Craigslist, and should all be trusted to deliver the tickets that you are purchasing.

Detailed Summary:

SeatGeek

SeatGeek is a ticket aggregator (think Orbitz for tickets) that shows you all of the tickets available from other ticket resellers. SeatGeek tends to have the best deals, transparent pricing, and a massive selection of tickets and events.

StubHub

StubHub, owned by eBay, is one of the most prominent peer-to-peer resellers with many tickets available and good prices.

Ticketmaster

Before buying from a ticket reseller, I always recommend checking the box office (usually Ticketmaster) to see if there are any tickets available because they tend to be cheaper if the event isn't sold out.

TicketLiquidator

TicketLiquidator has a substantial inventory of tickets and should always be referenced when you're comparing prices between different sites. They add a $7.95 fee when you check out.

TicketsNow

TicketsNow, a partner of Ticketmaster, tends to have great deals and should always be referenced when you're looking at ticket prices. Note that the prices don't include a small fee that gets tacked on at the end.

VividSeats

Due to the fees that VividSeats charges per transaction, you're better off buying your tickets on SeatGeek, StubHub, or one of the other recommended sites.

ScoreBig

ScoreBig is a company that sells unsold box office inventory at discount prices. There are two major problems with ScoreBig though:

  1. They don't have tickets for every event
  2. Events with unsold inventory that are listed on ScoreBig tend to have very low second market value, so better prices are almost always available on SeatGeek, StubHub, or TicketLiquidator

Conclusion

Your best bet is to use SeatGeek because it tends to have the best prices, the largest inventory of tickets, and the lowest fees.

StubHub
We recommend SeatGeek because it tends to have much lower prices and a better selection of tickets.

  1. Thanks for this info.

    What would you do…

For a concert in Madison Square garden SeatGeek is selling tckets (from ScoreBig) for $50.00 per ticket less than Stub Hub.

I would pay the higher price as I’ve heard StubHub is 100% legit and there are very few issues but if Seat Geek isn’t risky I’d love to save the money
