Bigstub Review: Legit, Reliable or a Scam?

Bigstub is a ticket reselling website that promises good seats at low prices. What we've found is that the selection of tickets is much more limited and frequently higher priced than Bigstub's better-known competitors. BigStub tries to rope people in with big names but rarely has the resources to actually sell those tickets. Like other small ticket resale websites, BigStub tries to get you in the door and add a lot of fees to their tickets that aren't necessary.

After reading more than 50 reviews, we don't reccomend Bigstub as a great website for purchasing tickets.

Our Recommendation: If you're looking to get the best seats or the best price then we recommend using SeatGeek because it tends to have much lower prices and a better selection of tickets and events than Bigstub.

My Experience with BigStub

I buy and sell tickets every single day. It's part of my job. Because of this everyday interaction with ticket sites, I've come to learn what tickets sites are good and what tickets sites leave me with an experience that is less than ideal.

BigStub is a ticket resale website that always gives me a good feeling from the start. It has a well-designed website that walks and talks like a legitimate ticket reseller. The homepage offers me a good mixture of events that are local(ish), popular, and trending. However, the events advertised were primarily country events. I really couldn't figure out why that would be.

BigStub tried to take my location and find me events. However, it showed up empty-handed, having nothing to offer me. This is uncommon since I live near a city that usually has something going on. When I went to update my location, BigStub did visually show me through an interactive map where venues were in my state (and neighboring states.) This was a great feature and really helped me find events tailored to where I live.

One of the two non-country events BigStub showed me was for the Jonas Brothers. Since the Jonas Brothers are only just now coming back into the pop world after an almost 10-year hiatus, their tour announcement was one that had created a lot of buzz. Knowing that tickets hadn't gone on sale yet, I wondered what it was BigStub was offering. I followed the link to nowhere. BigStub was advertising tickets, but the link just took me to a page that told me that tickets are on sale now, even though they weren't.

I suppose BigStub was just jumping the gun with the Jonas Brothers, but I still wanted to see if something similar was the case with the other artists advertised on their homepage. I clicked through the rest of the featured artists and was given tour dates and opportunities to buy tickets for every other artist. BigStub was, in fact, just riding the hype and getting ready (a little too soon) to put those tickets out there.

I began browsing for other tickets. With every artist I viewed, a map was displayed at the top of the page, pinpointing where each event listed would be taking place. Like the map earlier, this was a useful feature. I was able to just glance at the map and see if the artist I was interested in would be coming near me.

Something I've found with a lot of ticket sites, BigStub included, is the inability to buy less than two tickets or tickets in odd numbers. This isn't something I appreciate since I'm often a solo adventurer. However, I understand it is a good feature for sellers since it guarantees they aren't left with a singular ticket that they can't get rid of. It's just a bit inconvenient for me.

BigStub also has a checkout process similar to some of the less-than-reliable ticket websites where you can't see your total until after you enter your credit card information. They also like to push insurance on your tickets, almost guilting you into making those decisions for $10 to $15 more.

At the end of the day, BigStub didn't have a lot to offer me at all. I could compare BigStub to other ticket resale sites I tend to stay away from more often than not.

Pros:

  • Professional and easy to navigate website.
  • Easy to download tickets if you receive them.

Cons:

  • Sometimes customers are billed for more than the number of tickets purchased.
  • Customer service is often slow to respond.
  • Tickets can show up as late as one hour before the show.
  • Bigstub frequently charges hidden fees

What Are BigStub's Service Fees?

BigStub tends to have fairly high fees which is one of the reasons why it's not one of our recommended ticketing sites.

Unfortunately I didnt see this about reselling tickets at this site, we got tickets off this site for sprint center concert in kc which were spendy, we got to the gate and the phone scan did not work so they sent me to customer service booth, the girl there was extremely informative in that she asked me if my name was phillip, turns out phillip bought a whole row of tickets for section 228 at sprint center and sold them to big stub, I then purchased 2 tickets sold to big stub unknowingly getting screwed out of a large sum of money, turns out our 379 dollar tickets were worth 46 dollars a piece, long short, the gal at sprint center that helped us said next time just come to box office and get tickets for 46 a piece and no unreal service charge therefore removing jack wagon phillip from the equation, I hope this helps other people avoid getting screwed by resellers like we did, it’s sad big stub stoops to this level, however the girl at sprint center customer service will save me a lot of money in the future, and I thank her for that, lesson learned, this was March 2nd before the Eric church concert

+ PROS: Easy to get tickets
    - CONS: Double the face value, dont take the first seat you find or go to box office and not pay the unfair fees to the second person involved, 46 dollars a piece is a little different than 379 for two, like I said it's my fault, wont happen again, just want the public to be informed

    • They are a fraud and they know it. I am going to Casting Crown , Christian group. This fraud was embedded, didn’t know the band nor cared to. Scammed me for $1000, I bought and had tickets for $195.22, took those seats and stuck me with different seats without my knowledge. Ticketw was in on it and gave them my info. Thus has been a mess. Would anyone know how to do to them what they have caused me? I want my money refunded. How can they do this

I was screwed for $1000 to Casting Crowns in Kansas. Went to their website this pops up, didn’t know band nor cared about them. I paid and recieved tickets for$195.22 from ticketw first, these two are together and gave big stub my info!! My $195.22 seats disappeared and the next available to me were $687.55. I have been dealing with this reps. One said he was from the Philippines!! They are not from here.so $ 195.22 and $687.55 for 2 of us. We live 4rs away and don’t even know if we’ll get in…2 sets of ticketsπŸ˜• would NOT let me leave. They will pay for the joy that has been stolen from me the last 3 weeksπŸ™
