Ticketsmate Review: Legit, Reliable or a Scam?

Ticketsmate is a bridge between ticket buyers and ticket brokers. The website is quite simple with not much detail about the tickets being bought, leaving the customer in the dark when it comes to their purchase.

After reading more than 95 reviews around the internet, we highly Ticketsmate as a reliable source for ticket purchasing.

Our Recommendation: If you're looking to get the best seats or the best price then we recommend using SeatGeek because it tends to have much lower prices and a better selection of tickets and events than Ticketsmate.

SeatGeek
We recommend SeatGeek because it tends to have the largest selection of tickets and lowest prices.

My Experience with Ticketsmate:

I have been buying and selling tickets professionally for years now, so I know what to look for when it comes to a ticket resale site. So many ticket resale sites have some questionable things going on, especially when it comes to fees and things of the sorts.

With Ticketsmate, there seem to be a lot of events to choose from. They display about fifty tickets with bright “Buy Now” buttons beside them. These are all “Top” events rather than local events. I did randomly choose a few tickets to see where these “Buy Now” buttons wents, and they all just lead me to random cities with no rhyme or reason.

There were a few “Featured Events” at the top of the screen, three to be exact. All of these events were for artists that aren't exactly top rated.

I went looking for Penatonix tickets because I had previously purchased a few and needed to find a few more for an event near me in a couple of months. It seemed all of the tour dates were listed until I went searching for my city which happened to be left off. I continued by searching the city in hopes of finding the event. It's there I did find the event listed wrong, the location listed as the artist, keeping the event out of the artist page completely. I noticed that more than a few events were listed backward like this.

When I finally got to the ticket selection page, I was surprised to see that the prices the tickets were going for on Ticketsmate were very similar to the prices of the tickets being sold from the venue. The tickets available for this event were all mobile, which can be fine. However, it is also a circumstance I tend to be wary of.

A common theme I see in less reputable ticket sites is their lack of transparency when it comes to ticket fees. Ticketsnow is also like this. Ticketsnow wanted my payment information before they would give me a total. They also wouldn't tell me what my seats would be. Instead, they gave me the section and row, but I assume I wouldn't know what seats I had until I received my tickets.

In the process of buying my tickets, I also had some difficulties with the website. The page timed out while I was getting my credit card. I was sent back to the beginning of the buying process, then told that there were no results for the event. I had to start from the very beginning. I know that it's common for ticket sites to only allow one to hold tickets for a certain amount of time, but it's the whole event disappearing until I opened a new window that kind of threw me for a little loop.

I don't feel certain in Ticketsmate ability to get me my tickets by when I need them. As far as I could see on the website, there's no refund policy or any kind of guarantee as to tickets being authentic or arriving on time. Using TicketsMate is a gamble, for sure.

Pros:

  • Some tickets are available for shipping almost immediately.
  • Tickets available for a variety of events.

Cons:

  • All sales are final, no exceptions.
  • You can't know the exact seat numbers until you buy the tickets.
  • Can only ship to the billing address of the credit card.

What Are Ticketsmate's Service Fees?

Ticketsmate tends to have fairly high fees which is one of the reasons why it's not one of our recommended ticketing sites.
